March Tune posted [Jul. 7th, 2005|01:57 pm]
July 7th 2005 - Draft of March Tune "Delaying Tactics" Posted Online
It's been sitting there for such a long time but I had tech problems recording the various synths. Unlike the simple "Cry" that was recorded on just the one Triton synth, "Delaying Tactics" uses samples and sounds from the Triton, the XP50, and a few noises thrown in from Cubase. The intention was to learn how to sync different delay patterns, playing as few notes as possible. Still played a fair few but a lot of what you hear is delayed patterns repeating. Hope you like it.
Must try and get the May and June tunes online in the next few days. Catching up slowly!

April Tune Posted online.... [Apr. 22nd, 2005|01:56 pm]
April 22nd 2005 - Draft of April Tune "Cry" Posted Online
March's tune is still not online (it is finished honest!) but it's an upbeat synth pop piece and it will be with you shortly! In the meantime, April's piece is drafted and an early "a bit too rough and ready" version has been posted on the music page. It's called "Cry" and is a basic little piano piece with a pretty melody. Ah - and there's a nice big fat analog synth in there for good measure. Something different anyway.

deadline whooosh..... [Apr. 4th, 2005|01:54 pm]
April 4th 2005 - missed the deadline!
Frustratingly I missed the deadline for a song in March. However - a basic track is written and recorded. Some basic mixing needed and recording to PC before posting on here - but should be up within a couple of days. Track is simply called "Delayed" - because it's late, and because the main riff is created using a simple synth loop with massive Quad Tap delay.
Work is tough!

Brain still needs feeding? [Mar. 11th, 2005|11:27 am]
How very odd! Getting up to go to work seems unusual today. have grown accustomed to going to "class" in just 4 days. Very strange feeling. Must get some work done on the music tonight - the Irish Acts guys will start hassling soon if I don't get something written. I've got three different ideas started - and I think two of them could fit the same piece. Haven't touched an instrument since the weekend due to the first aid course and working evenings because of it. Must get on this weekend!

Qualified in something new... [Mar. 10th, 2005|11:25 am]
It's not very rock and roll but I'm chuffed to bits that I passed my First Aid course today. Now, if you want to do the rock thing and choke on vomit (your own or someone elses) I might just be able to stop you from croaking. Some great people on the course with experiences way out of my field of reference. The anecdotal nature of the teaching and the group studying made it quite easy to take a lot of info in swiftly. I'm surprised how much I enjoyed the learning. Might need to do some more of it. Knackered though! It's been a long time since I took on a totally new subject - nice to get outside the comfort zone - and to be happy to look like a pillock asking stupid questions.

New website finally online... [Mar. 1st, 2005|11:23 am]
New website went live today. Old one binned at last. Content to be added throughout march. Irish Acts "Song Per Month" club kicks off March 1st. Committed to writing 1 song per month for the next year. Using opportunity to improve understanding of synth equipment, recording only pieces that could be performed live without computers. More detail, including rough drafts of tunes to be downloadable from "Abstractions" music page. New forum under development - forum link is live.
